According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baqai, the meeting presents an important opportunity for:
- Strengthening peace and stability in the region.
- Promoting trust and cooperation among regional countries.
- Avoiding destructive interventions from external forces.
Baqai also highlighted that the discussions will include the outcome of Iran-Oman talks on identifying safe maritime routes for commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran claims to have reached an understanding with Oman regarding a map of these maritime routes and negotiations on a joint statement are ongoing. However, it alleges that US intervention and naval blockade have hindered finalizing the agreement.
