Irrigation Employee Held For Taking Bribe

UrduPoint (10 September, 2026) – The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Multan Region arrested an employee of the Irrigation department while receiving a Rs 20,000 bribe during a trap raid in Vehari on Thursday.

The operation was led by Circle Officer Mansoor Ahmed Khan under the supervision of Regional Director ACE Multan Basharat Nabi and in the presence of a judicial magistrate.

According to the complaint from Masood Ahmed, Irrigation Department employee Muhammad Sohail and another employee, Muhammad Idrees, had demanded Rs 50,000, threatening action over alleged water theft and reduction of a mogha (water outlet) size.

During the trap raid, Muhammad Idrees was caught accepting Rs 20,000 from the complainant. The marked currency was recovered and he was taken into custody as per legal provisions.

A case has been filed against the accused, with further investigation ongoing.

ACE Punjab, acting on Director General Sohail Zafar Chattha’s directives, reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating corruption, addressing public complaints, and promoting transparent governance through stringent legal action against corrupt officials.
