PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2026) Special Assistant to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister for Population Welfare, Tufail Anjum, on Wednesday directed the department to accelerate its digitalization process and develop a technology-based mechanism to monitor field staff attendance and activities.

He issued these directives while chairing a meeting on digitalization and the monitoring system of the Population Welfare Department, attended by the department’s secretary, director general, Director PME, demographer, and Research and IT team representatives, according to a press release.

The Research and IT team briefed the meeting on ongoing digital initiatives and existing systems across various sections of the department. Officials stated that around 90 percent of the department’s activities and office affairs had already been digitalized.

The meeting also reviewed field operations, with a focus on ensuring staff presence at Service Delivery Points (SDPs).

Tufail Anjum emphasized the need for a transparent and reliable technology-based system to monitor field staff, stating that the digitalization process should be further integrated to meet modern requirements and enhance departmental efficiency. He directed officials to examine the feasibility of developing a mobile-based attendance and field monitoring application or adopting an existing suitable system. The proposed mechanism would enable field personnel to mark attendance through mobile devices while performing their duties.

He noted that real-time information on staff attendance and field activities would aid officers in improving monitoring, verification, and supervision.

The meeting emphasized that the digital monitoring mechanism should remain practical, transparent, and reliable, strengthening field operations and enhancing the quality and effectiveness of public services.
