Law Minister Directs Faster Verification Process For Overseas Pakistanis' Passports, Documents
Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar on Wednesday directed the relevant authorities to expedite the verification process for passports and essential documents of overseas Pakistanis. He chaired a meeting of the Committee on Passport Rules attended by officials from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Passport Department, and other institutions.
The Federal Minister emphasized that overseas Pakistanis are valuable assets and stressed the need for further improving existing procedures to facilitate them. He directed the development of an integrated system for timely verification of travel documents and essential documents, simplifying record verification.
Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar ordered a clear timeline for record verification and an electronic mechanism at the Ministry of Interior to process queries and actions electronically promptly. He also proposed introducing a one-window verification portal, minimizing human interaction in the process.
The Federal Minister directed the preparation of proposals for necessary amendments to rules and regulations aimed at facilitating overseas Pakistanis. He further instructed relevant institutions to present a clear course of action and procedure at the next meeting.
