New Provinces, Administrative Units Need Of Hour: Aleem Khan
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Sep, 2026)
Federal Minister for Communications and President Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Abdul Aleem Khan, on Thursday stated that the creation of new provinces and administrative units is essential to enhance governance and ensure the provision of basic facilities and public services to citizens directly. He made these remarks during a meeting with Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, who called on him here. The discussion focused on the formation of new provinces and administrative units, along with the current national and political scenario.
Sardar Muhammad Yousaf appreciated Abdul Aleem Khan's support for the establishment of Hazara Province in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and his stance on creating new provinces nationwide.
Khan emphasized that the purpose is not to divide existing provinces but to improve their administrative structure. He argued for the creation of new administrative units in all four provinces to deliver public services closer to citizens' homes. He urged moving beyond political debates and finding solutions to public issues, highlighting the state's responsibility to provide education, healthcare, and other essential aspects of life to every citizen.
Noting the failures of the current provincial system, Khan stated that Pakistan needs to update its administrative structure, which has remained unchanged for several decades. He stressed the importance of reforms and a more efficient system tailored to modern requirements.
"There's nothing wrong with healthy discussions on new provinces and administrative units," he said, encouraging dialogue among political forces to avoid deadlocks. He noted that various political parties recognizing the need for new provinces is a positive development, emphasizing that this issue concerns the country's future and its people, not any single party or leader.
Both ministers expressed optimism that the ongoing discussions on new provinces would lead to constructive outcomes in the future and hoped for further positive developments soon.
