The Federal Constitutional Court has summoned the complete records of the case before the Supreme Court ahead of tomorrow’s important hearing and ordered that any similar case pending before a high court also be sent to it.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Sep, 2026) A major development has emerged in petitions filed by three other prisoners seeking relief on medical grounds and transfer to a hospital, following the precedent of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
At the request of the Attorney General, the Federal Constitutional Court has sought complete records of all such pending cases from the Supreme Court and all high courts across the country.
According to reports, during the hearing, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan raised important legal points before the Constitutional Court, arguing that the case concerning Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital was constitutional and legal in nature and should therefore be formally transferred to the Federal Constitutional Court.
He said the Federal Constitutional Court could exercise its constitutional and legal jurisdiction to call for the relevant cases and all their documents.
The Federal Constitutional Court, after reviewing the Attorney General’s arguments, sought all records and paperwork from the Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the case already filed for Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital.
In its unanimous order, the court also directed all provincial high courts and the Islamabad High Court to transfer records of similar cases.
The Federal Constitutional Court stated that if any case is pending before any high court concerning the special transfer of prisoners on medical grounds, treatment at Shifa International Hospital or similar relief, its complete record and details must immediately be sent to the Federal Constitutional Court.
