PFA Shuts 25 Water Plants Till Improvement Over Failed Samples

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has launched a crackdown on water filtration plants selling substandard water in the name of mineral water, shutting down production at 25 plants until they improve their safety standards.
On the directions of PFA Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed, food safety teams conducted inspections of water filtration plants across Multan. Bacteria and arsenic were detected in water samples from several plants, leading to the shutdown of 25 facilities.
The action was taken in areas including:
- Masoom Shah road
- BCG Chowk
- Rewari Mohalla
- 100-Foot road near Jinnah Park
- Sui Gas road
- Shah Shams colony
- Hassanabad
- 40-foot road
and other parts of the city.
PFA Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed emphasized that access to safe and clean drinking water is a basic right of every citizen, and directed water plant owners to strictly comply with food safety rules.
