PIMS Fire Incident: NA Health Committee Visits Hospital
UrduPoint (27 August 2026) – Members of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Health, led by Chairman Dr Mahesh Kumar, visited Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Thursday to review the tragic fire incident at its neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and assess the ongoing investigation.
Taking to the media, Dr Kumar expressed that the committee sought a transparent and impartial inquiry, ensuring the facts are brought to light. He emphasized understanding the circumstances leading to the incident, emergency response, safety measures, and staff presence during the time.
Dr Kumar highlighted that no individual should be shielded from accountability if any negligence or lapse is uncovered during the investigation. He noted that a high-level inquiry committee has already been constituted by the government to thoroughly investigate the PIMS fire incident and assign responsibilities.
