PM Directs Acceleration of Digital Reforms
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Aug, 2026) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, on Monday, highlighted the government’s priority of facilitating citizens in accessing public services, directing that all government digital platforms must be made more effective in line with contemporary needs.
Review Meeting on Ongoing Reforms
The prime minister chaired a review meeting on ongoing reforms at the National Information Technology (NITB) and the progress of Islamabad Technology Park’s construction, as reported by the PM Office Media Wing.
Key Directives:
- NITB Focus: Provide citizens with easy, efficient, and modern digital services. Ensure coordinated work among all relevant institutions for timely, transparent, and accessible digital services.
- E-Office Transition: Emphasized the significance of the transition of Federal ministries to e-office systems, directing its use across all subordinate departments and state-owned enterprises.
- Digitalization: Accelerate the digitization process in government institutions, including the digitalization of records of all public properties at the earliest.
- Islamabad Technology Park: Expressed displeasure over delays and directed that construction be expedited with full outsourcing of park management.
Meeting Highlights:
NITB had undergone right-sizing with transparent key appointments. All federal ministries had already shifted to e-office, while efforts continue to expand its use in other departments and state-owned entities.
