PM Sends Reply to Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s Letter on CEC Appointment - UrduPoint

Sources indicate that Mahmood Khan Achakzai will consult PTI Chairman and other leaders on the letter and also seek the confidence of Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas.
ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Sep, 2026) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai have maintained communication regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and new members of the Election Commission.
According to sources, the Prime Minister has responded to Achakzai's letter. The Opposition leader has received the Prime Minister's letter concerning the Election Commission's new appointments.
Sources revealed that the Prime Minister assured Achakzai that the constitutional process would be followed for the Election Commission's appointments.
It was reported that Rana Sanaullah and Tariq Fazal Chaudhary met Mahmood Khan Achakzai, assuring him that the Prime Minister would reply to his letter.
Sources added that Mahmood Khan Achakzai is currently in Quetta and will arrive in Islamabad in the next two to three days. He will then confer with the PTI chairman and other leaders regarding the Prime Minister's letter. Achakzai will also consult with Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas.
