Henry Pollock: Eddie Hearn discusses back row's decision to stay at Northampton Saints
BBC Sport reports that Eddie Hearn reveals details about Henry Pollock's contract negotiation with Northampton Saints.
Pollard's Decision to Stay
Hearn, known for his work in boxing, darts, and snooker through Matchroom Promotions, has been advising Pollock since March. Pollock, a 21-year-old flanker, ultimately chose to extend his stay at his boyhood club despite receiving substantial offers from both domestic and international clubs.
"There were a couple of domestic offers – a couple of Prem offers - and international offers as well," Hearn shared. "We had a very... straight conversation. I said to him, 'be honest, do you want to go?' And he went, 'no, I really don't want to go'."
Financial Details
Hearn highlights the significant financial opportunities Pollock turned down, with some offers exceeding seven figures. However, Pollock's new deal, while not reaching the targeted number, includes a signing bonus and various off-pitch income streams, pushing his total earnings beyond £1 million annually.
"Everybody from major financial institutions to household brands... hasn't approached us about Henry Pollock," Hearn noted.
Future Ambitions
Pollock aspires to represent Great Britain in rugby sevens at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. While his new deal with Saints does not include dedicated training for Sevens, Hearn suggests conversations regarding this possibility could take place in the future.
"Our principal obligation is to perform for Northampton and to help them win championships," Hearn said. "Part of the arrangement allows him to look at those kind of opportunities, but only with a sensible conversation with the club."
