PTI’s Long March Unjustified, Protesters Won't Be Allowed To Enter Islamabad: Tarar

PTI’s (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) long march towards Islamabad has no justification. That's according to Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar. He further stated that protesters with a history of disruption and vandalism will not be permitted entry into the federal capital.

Tarar cited previous PTI rallies where they caused "disruption and inconvenience" to the general public, including an incident where a female media anchor had to escape by climbing over a DSNG vehicle.

He emphasized that the Islamabad High Court has issued clear directions that there will be no compromise on disrupting movement in the capital.

Other key points:

  • The minister highlighted the economic impact of long marches, stating they could cost around Rs. 120 billion per day.
  • He compared the recent Jamaat-e-Islami protest to PTI's, noting minimal disruption from JI while instances of vandalism and damage to government property were reported during PTI protests.
  • Tarar shared details of a phone conversation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and JI Central Amir, Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, where they discussed delaying the JI long march, with the latter expressing willingness to consider the proposal.
  • Regarding negotiations with PTI, Tarar stated that talks can only be held with individuals authorized to make decisions and ensure their implementation within the party.
  • Finally, he questioned the KP government's utilization of Rs. 105 billion received under counter-terrorism funds, demanding transparency on how these funds have been spent.
