Punjab CM's Controversial Statement Mentioned During Larger Bench Hearing

The Punjab chief minister's controversial statement regarding the provinces was brought up during a hearing by a larger bench of the Islamabad High Court on a petition against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march.
At the outset, Punjab Advocate General Barrister Zafarullah stated his strong support for citizens' freedom, highlighting his personal experiences with shelling in Punjab and the martyrdom of police personnel.
Condemning the Punjab chief minister's statement on behalf of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advocate general, the Punjab AG noted that:
- The Punjab chief minister was neither a party to the petition nor present in court.
- He is responsible for ensuring the safety of every citizen within his province.
- In cases of criminal conspiracies, the chief secretary and inspector general of the affected area bear responsibility.
- The court should remain a legal forum, not a political one.
The Punjab AG did not challenge the court's jurisdiction over the petition and expressed that any directives from the court would be followed. Arguments were subsequently presented by the Sindh and Balochistan advocate generals.
