Punjab Moves To Deploy Rescue 1122 Emergency Officers In Teaching Hospitals

Punjab is taking a significant step towards strengthening fire safety and emergency preparedness in government teaching hospitals by deploying the services of Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122. This initiative aims to establish a uniform and standardized emergency response mechanism across tertiary care hospitals.

According to official sources, a letter was issued to the Secretary, Emergency Services Department, Punjab on Sunday, regarding the deployment of Rescue 1122 officers in these facilities. The main objective is to create a robust integrated system with clearly defined roles, command structures, and escalation mechanisms for emergency responses, especially fire incidents.

Under this proposal, Rescue 1122 officers will:

  • Standardize and monitor emergency response protocols.
  • Coordinate with hospital emergency departments, security, fire safety teams, and other stakeholders to ensure timely responses.
  • Conduct regular inspections of emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and life safety arrangements.

This move is part of the Specialized Healthcare Department's ongoing efforts to enhance safety standards in government hospitals and develop a coordinated emergency response system.
