Punjab Police Allegations: Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s Story

This followed an earlier instance where he, as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, physically sat in a police van to ensure the release of his workers, refusing to step out until they were freed.
Shaukat Basra, a PTI leader, added that Punjab Police had detained and arrested hundreds of party members from Peshawar. He described how their convoy was stopped near Liberty, leading to the arrest of numerous supporters.
Afridi pledged not to leave until his leadership and workers were set free. The incident gained significant attention when Afridi visited the family of Ishtiaq Ahmad, a long-time PTI worker martyred in Lahore. He expressed outrage over Punjab Police’s actions, describing them as "extremely tragic, condemnable, and unacceptable."
This event sparked a street-movement rally led by Afridi in Lahore on September 27, accompanied by Provincial Information Minister Shafi Jan and other prominent PTI leaders. During the rally, Afridi reiterated his disapproval of the Punjab Police, stating that the people of Punjab do not accept their security or uniform after the treatment they received.
