PWPA Chairperson Assures Legal, Moral Support To Aizel’s Mother
Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt has assured the mother of 18-month-old Aizel, who died following an alleged sexual assault in Karachi, of all possible legal and moral support within the Authority’s jurisdiction in her pursuit of justice.
Aizel’s mother travelled from Karachi to Lahore and met Hina Parvez Butt at her office on Wednesday. Social media influencer and social activist Alina Amir was also present. Alina Amir briefed the PWPA Chairperson on the details of the tragic incident.
During the meeting, Aizel’s mother expressed concern over the attitude and treatment she had received from the police and the Sindh government. She also voiced dissatisfaction with the pace of progress in the case, noting that despite available evidence against the accused, proceedings were moving slowly.
Hina Parvez Butt expressed profound grief and sympathy over the tragic loss and conveyed her condolences to Aizel’s mother. She assured her that although the legal jurisdiction of the Punjab Women Protection Authority was limited to Punjab, she would make every possible effort within her capacity to provide legal and moral support.
The PWPA Chairperson stated that she would also urge the Sindh government to ensure strict action in accordance with the law against those involved in serious crimes against women and girls and adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards such offences.
Hina Parvez Butt emphasized that there is no place in society for heinous crimes against women and girls, adding that those responsible must face exemplary punishment under the law to ensure justice and deter similar offenses in the future.
Aizel’s mother thanked Hina Parvez Butt for raising her voice in support of justice for her daughter and extending moral and practical assistance.
