Shahzad Hits Fastest First-class Century Surpassing Misbahul Haq

Pakistan Television's Muhammad Shahzad becomes the fastest Pakistani batter to first-class century

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - September 24, 2026) Muhammad Shahzad of Pakistan Television (PTV) achieved a remarkable feat by hitting a 49-ball first-class century, surpassing former captain Misbahul Haq's record. This happened on Thursday during a match against Kingsmen Academy.

Shahzad's achievement bettered Misbahul Haq's 56-ball test century against Australia in Abu Dhabi in 2014. On the first day of the third round of Al Batal Presents ABS Developers President’s Trophy Grade-I, PTV scored 285-7 in 58 overs due to bad light, after being asked to bat first at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium by Khan Research Laboratories.

At Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad, PTV opened their batting against Kingsmen Academy and ended the day on 285-7 in 58 overs. None of their batters could score more than 43 runs except Shahzad who blazed through to a century off just 62 balls, smacking 12 fours and eight sixes.

Left-arm pacer Zia-ul-Haq was the only bowler to dismiss Shahzad in the 32nd over as PTV lost four wickets for 108 runs. However, Sharoon Siraj (53 not out off 72 balls) ensured a steady end to the innings with eight fours and two sixes.

Kingsmen's Muhammad Ilyas topped the bowling charts with three wickets for 95 runs, while Shoaib Afridi took two.

In Peshawar, Markhor IT Solutions' Atiq-ur-Rehman (unbeaten 136 off 197 balls) guided his team to 258-3 in 79 overs against Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). After being reduced to 40-3, Atiq's third first-class century brought stability to MIT's innings. He shared an unbroken stand of 218 runs with Syed Awad Naqvi (65 not out). Naseem Shah, Muhammad Imran, and Mohammad Azab were the successful SNGPL bowlers.

At National Ground, Islamabad, Ghani scored 263-6 in 72 overs, thanks to Mirza Tahir Baig's (67) and Ali Razzaq's (62 not out) efforts.
