SHARJAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – 17th Aug, 2026) The third edition of the Shams Award for Arabic Content 2026, organised by Sharjah Media City (Shams), has attracted over 500 entries, signifying its growing prominence across the Arab world.

The award, which aims to bring together creative minds and showcase diverse talents, has seen a significant surge in participation compared to previous years. This growth underscores the evolving nature of the Arabic content sector, with rapid advancements in production tools, audience engagement, and distribution methods.

New Categories Broaden Scope

The third edition has introduced three new categories:

  • Best TV Series Screenwriter
  • Best Original Score for a Series or Film
  • Best Creative Advertisement

These additions complement the existing categories, which encompass short films, AI-generated videos, content creation, podcasts, and acting. The expanded scope is designed to recognise the integrated creative ecosystem of the content industry and celebrate the work of behind-the-scenes talent, from screenwriters and musicians to advertising creatives, alongside content creators and performers.

Quote from Rashid Abdullah Al Obed

Rashid Abdullah Al Obed, Director-General of Sharjah Media City (Shams), expressed his enthusiasm:

"The strong response to the third edition reflects the vitality of the Arab creative landscape and confirms the presence of talented individuals whose ideas and works can make a significant impact. At Shams, we view this momentum as a responsibility that drives us to continue developing the award and expanding its reach, creating a genuine space where creativity meets opportunity."

He further highlighted the vision behind the award:

"Beyond celebrating winning works, our ambition is to build a platform that helps discover talent, fosters the development of creative works, and enhances the visibility and influence of Arabic content."

Judging Criteria

Through its third edition, the Shams Award for Arabic Content aims to cultivate a competitive environment that prioritises the quality of ideas, innovation, cultural and social impact, and artistic and technical excellence. Specialist judging panels will evaluate submissions accordingly, selecting winners based on these criteria.
