Students Wait for GCSE and BTec Grades as App Launches for 750 Schools in England
29 minutes ago
Pupils across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland are eagerly awaiting their GCSE, BTecs, and other Level 2 results, with some in England accessing them through a new app that is rolling out for the first time. While schools and colleges will distribute grades in person, students at over 750 English schools can now also view their grades on their phones starting at 11:00 BST.
This year’s results come amidst the UK government’s push to enhance technical education and address the growing number of GCSE resits in England. Last year, 67.4% of all GCSE entries achieved a grade 4/C or higher.
The introduction of the app aims to streamline the process for students and colleges by storing their results digitally, eliminating excessive paperwork.
Starting this year, schools in England will be required to offer technical subjects like manufacturing and AI alongside core academic learning from Year 10 onwards, as announced by Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
Beyond GCSEs, students can expect results for BTec Tech Awards, BTec Firsts, BTec Level 2 Technical courses, Cambridge Nationals, and more. Over 360,000 vocational and technical qualifications were awarded last year.
The Education Record app will be available for students to access their results from 11:00 BST.
