SHARJAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 20th Sep, 2026) H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Humanitarian Envoy of The Big Heart Foundation, announced the establishment of the “Jawaher Al Qasimi Humanitarian Innovation Centre” at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Indonesia's Yogyakarta region.
The centre aims to serve as a permanent hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, bridging academic knowledge, research, and innovation with practical humanitarian solutions. This partnership between The Big Heart Foundation, NAMA Women Advancement Establishment (NAMA), and Universitas Gadjah Mada is funded by a total of $1.6 million, contributed by all three organisations.
During the signing ceremony, H.H. the Humanitarian Envoy emphasised the crucial role universities play in societal progress through education, knowledge dissemination, and fostering understanding of global challenges. He highlighted that true knowledge finds its value when it transcends academic boundaries to serve communities and improve lives. This principle aligns with Sharjah's vision, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the humanitarian initiatives spearheaded by his wife, H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Family and Community Council.
H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed explained that investment in people, education, and culture has been a cornerstone of Sharjah's development journey. The establishment of the "Jawaher Al Qasimi Humanitarian Innovation Centre" at Universitas Gadjah Mada is an extension of these values.
The centre builds upon the existing partnership between NAMA and Universitas Gadjah Mada through the "Jawaher Fund for the Advancement of Women’s Education", affiliated with NAMA, supporting women pursuing postgraduate studies. H.H. the Humanitarian Envoy noted that this collaborative effort underscores the need to integrate academic knowledge, humanitarian expertise, and community engagement.
