Swimming, Picnics, Boating Banned in Swat River
PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2026) District Magistrate Swat, Sohail Ahmad Khan, has imposed a complete ban on swimming, picnicking and boating in the Swat River and its tributaries for 30 days. This decision aims to prevent drowning incidents and safeguard human lives.
The district administration has also issued a notification enforcing Section 144 across the district with immediate effect. According to the notification, the ban was implemented in the public interest, considering the increasing number of drowning incidents in the river and the associated risks.
The administration stated that the ban will also help protect river water from pollution caused by unnecessary activities. This restriction remains in place for one month. Violators will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and other relevant laws.
