They Filmed a Video in a Van With Cameramen and Guards—And Claimed Abduction?

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has responded to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s claim of abduction, stating that he was released after engaging in laughter and jokes within a police van equipped with cameramen and guards.
Bukhari expressed her disbelief, saying, "Shame on you, come to your senses. They were filming a video while sitting in the van… and they were abducted?" She further added, "They were released after laughing and joking in a police van…? I had told you, Punjab would respond."
She criticized Afridi’s actions, stating: "Watch another drama: he went and sat in the police van himself. When police officers asked him to get out, he scolded his guards for blocking his drama and pushed them aside. It is scripted and cheap acting."
Afridi had previously alleged that Punjab Police attempted to abduct him and then threw him onto the road. He emphasized the seriousness of such an incident, stating that pressure would be applied to those responsible.
This comes after Afridi himself sat in a police van to secure the release of his workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He refused to exit until his team was set free. Shaukat Basra, a PTI leader, also reported that police detained Lahore’s PTI leadership and arrested numerous supporters.
Afridi declared that they would remain until their leadership and workers were released. Additionally, he visited the family of PTI worker Ishtiaq Ahmed, who had been a long-term activist, and condemned Punjab Police’s actions. He expressed sympathy and offered condolences to the family, describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable.
