Three Booked For Public Display Of Arms Outside DPO Office
UrduPoint (23 August, 2026) – Police in Khanewal have registered a case against three men for allegedly displaying firearms in public near the District Police Officer (DPO) office.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), a private vehicle stopped near a market close to the DPO office, from which three armed men emerged and displayed weapons in the presence of pedestrians, causing a panic in the area.
Acting on a tip-off, Khanewal City SHO TSI Khalil Haider and a police team arrived at the scene and arrested the suspects:
- Usama Farooq, son of Farooq Khan
- Talha Farooq, son of Umar Farooq Khan
- Zeeshan Farooq, son of Farooq
Police recovered two 9mm pistols, a repeater rifle, and ammunition from their possession. The suspects presented licences for the weapons at the scene.
During preliminary questioning, the suspects stated that a case (FIR No. 580/26) had already been registered against them at Kacha Koh Police Station. They claimed to have visited the DPO office to request a change in the investigating officer.
The police stated that despite holding arms licences, the suspects violated the Punjab Arms Ordinance by publicly displaying their weapons. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them.
