Transport Minister Takes Notice Of Higher Fares Despite Reduction In Diesel Prices
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Thursday took notice of passengers reportedly facing higher fares despite the reduction in diesel prices; directing the Secretary Transport and other concerned authorities to ensure a corresponding reduction in public transport fares.
In a statement, Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasized the need for strict implementation of fare cuts following the decrease in diesel prices. He instructed authorities to take immediate action against transporters charging excessive fares.
The minister clarified that no transporter would be permitted to levy arbitrary or excessive fares, stating that the Sindh government is committed to providing relief to the public. He directed officers to strengthen monitoring on various routes and take swift action on complaints of overcharging.
Sharjeel Memon asserted that excessive fares, despite the reduction in diesel prices, would not be tolerated, and legal action would be taken against violators. He highlighted the government’s efforts to alleviate people’s burdens.
