Twin Cities Glow With Green Lights Ahead Of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH)
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd Aug, 2026) The twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are resplendent with illuminations, flags, and banners as Muslims across the region prepare to commemorate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace be upon him) with religious zeal.
Celebrations Across the Region
Markets, residential streets, and shopping plazas have been decorated with LED lights, buntings, and calligraphic banners bearing “Marhaba Ya Mustafa (PBUH)”. District administrations of both cities have started cleanliness drives and made security arrangements for central processions and Milad gatherings expected on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. Shopkeepers have set up special stalls selling decorative items, flags, and Milad accessories.
Rawalpindi’s Beauty
In Rawalpindi’s Raja Bazaar and Commercial Market, shopfronts are lined with fairy lights and green drapes. Muhammad Aslam, a shopkeeper in Raja Bazaar, expressed his devotion, stating, "We decorate our shops every year to express our love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH). This is not just business; it’s devotion." He further noted that customers eagerly buy lights and flags, bringing blessings to their businesses.
Islamabad’s Festivities
Similar scenes were witnessed in Islamabad’s Melody Market, F-10 Markaz, and G-9 Bazaar. Ayesha bibi, a resident of G-6, shared her anticipation, "We have been putting up lights on our street for 15 years. Children especially wait for this time. We recite Naat, arrange Mehfil, and distribute sweets in the neighborhood." She emphasized that decorating their streets is a way to express love and gratitude.
Youth Participation
In Saddar, Rawalpindi, young volunteers joined shopkeepers in setting up banners and lights. Zain Ali, a college student, commented, "The whole city looks beautiful at night. It brings people together. Decorating homes and mosques is a way to show respect and gratitude. It also spreads the message of peace and unity"
Expectations for Peaceful Celebrations
Residents expressed hope that the celebrations would be held peacefully, reflecting the deep affection Muslims have for the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
