Two More Trains To Be Restored Soon: Railway Minister

LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 22, 2026) Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has announced the restoration of two more train services on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, the minister said the Mohenjo Daro Express will be restored on September 15, while a new train service between Sialkot and Rawalpindi will commence on October 15. He has directed the Railway administration to take all necessary measures for the restoration and launch of these services.

Muhammad Hanif Abbasi stated that all suspended train services would be restored in phases, adding that efforts were being made to facilitate passengers and improve railway services across the country. The minister also mentioned that work on the Main Line-1 (ML-1) project had entered its final stage and is scheduled to begin implementation in January.

He described ML-1 as a transformative project that will revolutionize Pakistan Railways. Expressing confidence, he said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was closely following the project’s progress and that the government aimed to meet public expectations regarding its implementation.
