UAE Continues Humanitarian Efforts With Dispatch Of Aid To Colombia
The United Arab Emirates, in cooperation with the Republic of Paraguay, dispatched humanitarian assistance to the affected communities and survivors of the earthquake that struck the Republic of Colombia, resulting in deaths, injuries, and substantial property damage.
This assistance aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, as part of the USD 10 million in humanitarian aid announced by the UAE through the UAE Aid Agency to support those impacted by the earthquake.
The initiative leverages Paraguay’s production capacity and regional logistics networks, allowing for the direct purchase and transport of essential relief supplies from markets in Paraguay to Colombia. This accelerates aid delivery to the most affected areas and supports local suppliers, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises.
Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, emphasized that this aid reflects the UAE's solidarity with Colombia and its people, underscoring the country’s commitment to ensuring support aligns with actual priorities and needs. She also expressed gratitude to Paraguay for its cooperation in providing and transporting humanitarian supplies, highlighting the importance of coordinated regional efforts to address urgent humanitarian needs.
Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Paraguay, affirmed the Paraguayan government's appreciation for these joint humanitarian efforts, commending the UAE’s solidarity and positive contributions to support the affected population.
