Up to 50mm Rain Recorded in Islamabad as CDA Teams Tackle Waterlogging
UrduPoint (15 September, 2026) reported that up to 50 millimetres of rain was recorded in different parts of Islamabad on Tuesday. This prompted the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to deploy sanitation teams to:
- Clear drainage grates
- Remove accumulated rainwater from roads
- Monitor major roads and vulnerable locations
- Carry out dewatering operations
- Keep major roads accessible to commuters
CDA officials stated that the teams worked during and after the downpour, clearing debris to prevent blockages and facilitate drainage. They also monitored the situation in various areas, ensuring coordinated efforts with relevant departments.
The CDA assured continued drainage and cleaning operations post-rainfall, especially at locations prone to water accumulation. The recorded rainfall underscored the importance of maintaining the capital’s drainage network to prevent waterlogging and facilitate traffic movement.
