There is no longer any trust in talks with the US after repeated attacks and sanctions, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in an interview.
NEW YORK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Sep, 2026) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that:
The United States and Israel attacked Iran using the airspace of Muslim countries, while Iran targeted US bases in the region as attacks on Iran were launched from them.
According to an interview with an Arab television channel:
- The US plan was to pit Muslim countries against one another and seize the region’s resources.
- The United States was responsible for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Pezeshkian emphasized:
- Closing the Strait of Hormuz is a natural response when Iran’s routes are blocked.
- The Strait of Hormuz dispute can only be resolved through dialogue, not force.
He further stated:
- Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis should resolve their differences through talks, and Iran could help settle the Iran-Saudi-Houthi dispute.
- Pakistan and Qatar are mediating between Iran and the US, conveying Iran’s messages to Washington.
Pezeshkian concluded:
- The exchange of messages is occurring under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
- The US will have to clarify its position on the matter.
- Regional security is possible through mutual cooperation among regional countries.
He added:
- The region does not need any guardian or external power.
- Despite US sanctions and Israel’s position, Iran would remain steadfast.
