Lahore traffic police intensify crackdown on defaulting government vehicles
Lahore traffic police have stepped up their campaign against government and semi-government vehicles with unpaid e-challans, seizing a vehicle near Thokar Niaz Baig that had accumulated 54 unpaid challans worth over Rs100,000.
According to a spokesperson, the driver had violated traffic signals 32 times and lane lines 20 times. The vehicle was released after the driver settled all outstanding fines.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, stated that e-challans are being issued in the city using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras for over 20 traffic violations. He urged citizens to adhere to traffic rules to avoid e-challans and emphasized ongoing strict actions against vehicles with fake or missing number plates.
