Rising Star JJ Gabriel on the Brink of Leaving Manchester United

BBC Sport reports that JJ Gabriel, a highly-rated 15-year-old striker, is on the verge of leaving Manchester United. Despite his young age, Gabriel has already made a significant impact: winning the Premier League Under-18 Player of the Year award last season and scoring a hat-trick on his Uefa Youth League debut.

Even though he turned 14 at the beginning of the season, Gabriel’s performances led to him making his senior debut for United in a pre-season game against Atletico Madrid. He was expected to make his competitive bow in the Carabao Cup tie with Brighton on Wednesday night.

The reasons behind Gabriel’s potential departure are not detailed, but it seems there are issues in his family’s relationship with the club. Gabriel has sent a formal notice requesting to cancel his registration with immediate effect, although United hopes to resolve the situation as the player still has a contract running until the end of the season.

Gabriel does not turn 16 until October 6th, when he could sign a scholarship agreement. Born in London, he joined United’s Premier League 2 squad this season and quickly became a key figure, scoring stunning goals in his first two games.
