A video allegedly showing an Islamabad traffic police officer behaving inappropriately with a woman scooter rider during heavy rain on the capital’s Islamabad Expressway has gone viral on social media.

According to reports, Islamabad police authorities took immediate notice of the matter after the video became viral and launched a written inquiry against the officer concerned.

The video depicts a woman scooter rider sheltering under an Expressway bridge during heavy rain in Islamabad. However, a traffic police officer allegedly keeps urging her to proceed with her scooter despite the downpour.

Eyewitnesses stated that the woman repeatedly requested the officer to let her wait until the rain subsided, but he continued arguing and made inappropriate comments, saying, "During the rain, come after making arrangements from home." Social media users pointed out that other male motorcyclists were also present under the bridge, but the police officer only targeted the woman.

Following a strong online backlash and the video’s viral spread, the Islamabad police spokesperson issued a clarification. The spokesperson revealed that the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) had served a show-cause notice on the accused traffic officer and requested a formal response within 24 hours.

Additionally, the Islamabad CTO issued strict warnings to all traffic officers and field personnel in the federal capital, emphasizing the need to treat citizens, especially women, with civility, dignity, and courtesy while enforcing traffic laws.
