1,200 Liters of Adulterated Milk Destroyed, 13 Shops Sealed in Havelian
District Administration Intensifies Action Against Food Adulteration and Encroachments
Abbottabad, August 19, 2026 (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News) – The district administration has intensified its efforts against food adulteration and encroachments in Havelian, leading to the destruction of 1,200 liters of adulterated milk and 200 kilograms of contaminated minced meat. Additionally, 13 shops were sealed during separate operations.
Inspections and Seizures
On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sarmad Saleem Akram, Additional Assistant Commissioner-II Havelian, Muhammad Usama, conducted inspections in Havelian Bazaar. Two chicken shops were sealed for violations related to the sale of chicken meat, while 11 shops were sealed during an anti-encroachment operation under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act 2013.
Food Safety and Halal Food Authority’s Intervention
Official from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority seized 200 kilograms of adulterated minced meat and destroyed it on the spot, also initiating legal action against the culprits. A mobile food testing laboratory discovered skimmed milk, glucose, and detergent in a milk tanker. Following the test, the adulterated milk was destroyed, and fines were imposed on the responsible parties.
Commitment to Continuous Action
The district administration assured ongoing action to eliminate encroachments, improve cleanliness, maintain smooth traffic and pedestrian movement, and ensure the availability of safe and quality food for citizens.
Additional Assistant Commissioner’s Visit
Separately, Additional Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Usama visited Kalu Mera on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner after two houses collapsed due to heavy rain the previous night. He assessed the damage and reviewed the condition of the affected families. Relevant officials were directed to provide necessary assistance, continue monitoring the situation, and take further legal action.
Monitoring Rain-Affected Areas
The district administration stated that it is closely monitoring rain-affected areas across Abbottabad and taking measures to provide timely assistance to residents.
