ADC Appeals Parents To Extend Cooperation To Health Department

HYDERABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) Chairman District Crisis Communication Committee and Additional Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Saddam Hussain Memon, has appealed to parents to extend full cooperation to health department teams and ensure that their children receive Polio Booster Dose on the scheduled dates to protect them from polio.
He stated that the Polio Booster Dose Campaign would commence from August 20, 2026, in 9 Union Councils of the riverine belt of Sakrand and Qazi Ahmed talukas of District Shaheed Benazirabad and would continue until August 27, 2026. According to him, the campaign aims to provide additional protection to children against poliovirus and strengthen efforts for the complete eradication of polio in the district.
During the campaign:
- 92,436 children up to 10 years of age will be administered OPV.
- 86,890 children aged 4 months to 10 years will receive the fIPV Polio Booster Dose through a jet injector.
Saddam Hussain Memon emphasized that polio is a dangerous and incurable disease, but it can be prevented through vaccination. He urged parents to cooperate with polio teams and ensure their children receive the recommended booster dose.
He explained that health department teams will reach children at designated locations in the targeted areas. He appealed to teachers, religious scholars, political and social leaders, elected representatives, media, and civil society to raise awareness and ensure no child is missed during the campaign.
The ADC further stated that the district administration and health department have taken all necessary measures for effective monitoring of the campaign, guiding field teams, and mobilizing public cooperation. He directed members of the District Crisis Communication Committee to actively contribute to the successful implementation of the campaign and address any challenges or issues encountered during it.
For the campaign, 152 skilled persons, 152 team assistants, 304 social mobilizers, and 12 Team Support Centers have been deployed/established to facilitate vaccination activities and ensure effective coverage of targeted children.
He once again appealed to parents to play their part in the national effort to eradicate polio by ensuring their children up to 10 years of age receive Polio Booster Dose on the scheduled dates.
