Azad Jammu and Kashmir Minister Seeks Investment Facilitation, Revival of Closed Industrial Units

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Minister for Tourism, Industries, Commerce, Labour and Mineral Resources Abdul Rehman on Wednesday called for practical measures to attract investment, revive industrial activity, and increase state revenue in AJK. He directed the authorities to facilitate investors, simplify business procedures, and ensure a conducive environment for local and foreign investment.
The minister was speaking at a departmental briefing on the performance and affairs of the Industries, Commerce, Labour, and Mineral Resources Department. Sardar Adnan Khurshid, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and Secretary Industries, Commerce, Labour, and Mineral Resources, briefed him on the department’s performance and various matters.
Abdul Rehman stated that all institutions must work in coordination to promote development and public welfare, emphasizing effective utilization of the state’s resources to create new revenue sources. He instructed the authorities to revive closed industrial units and plants, suggesting opportunities for new investors where existing ones failed to operate within the stipulated period.
He noted that inactive industrial assets could be converted into productive ventures, generating employment and boosting industrial growth. Additionally, he called for effective utilization of industrial land and government resources, directing the formulation of a comprehensive strategy for industrial development and youth employment.
Abdul Rehman stressed further improving the department’s performance and taking effective measures to promote investment across the state.
