The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi on Thursday remanded three suspects into police custody for seven days following their arrest in connection with the recovery of heavy explosive materials.
The special court judge granted physical remand to Airport Police Station, directing authorities to produce the accused in court on August 25 along with an updated investigation progress report.
Presenting the suspects under tight security, law enforcement officials informed the court that a joint operation intercepted a vehicle near Bhanyal Underpass on the Motorway Service Road. Searching the vehicle, security personnel recovered a substantial quantity of explosive materials, detonators, bomb disposal equipment, and safety fuses being transported from Khanpur toward an undisclosed location.
Prosecutor Zaheer Shah requested physical custody on behalf of the state, stating that extended interrogation is required to trace the suspects’ broader network and apprehend accomplices linked to the transport of explosives. The court accepted the prosecution’s request and remanded the three suspects to Airport Police custody for further investigation.
