Chief Minister Sohail Afridi Visits Lahore; First Case Against Arrested Workers Emerges

A case has been registered against nine individuals at Akbari Gate Police Station for blocking a road and chanting slogans, as per journalist Muhammad Umair.
Lahore: Legal Action Against Protesters
Police have taken their first formal legal step regarding protests on Circular Road and traffic disruptions during Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s visit to Lahore.
Akbari Gate Police Station has filed an FIR against nine people for allegedly blocking the road, chanting slogans, and causing a significant delay in emergency vehicle movements.
According to Muhammad Umair, FIR No. 476/26 was registered at Akbari Gate Police Station, Lahore, on the complaint of ASI Nisar Ahmed under Sections 290 and 291 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The FIR states that protesters congregated near Adda Crown on Circular Road, blocking traffic and severely hindering the movement of ambulances and other emergency vehicles, as well as regular traffic.
The accused, as named by police after the situation was brought under control, include:
- Usama son of Abdul Majeed, Wah Cantt, Rawalpindi
- Habib ur Rehman son of Noor, Loralai
- Idrees son of Muhammad Ashraf, Chatta Colony, Ferozewala, Sheikhupura
- Abdul Wahid son of Ghulam Hussain, Khiali Shahpur Bazaar, Gujranwala
- Qasim Ali son of Shabbir Hussain, China Scheme, Lahore
- Abu Bakr son of Waheed, Shalimar Bagh, Lahore
- Wezar Ali son of Shakreen, Tehsil Nagar, Buner
- Muhammad Waqas son of Muhammad Arshad, Rawalpindi
- Jamal Ali son of Muhammad Ali, Shahdara, Lahore.
The FIR alleges that the accused blocked the road in the middle, disrupting traffic and causing public inconvenience. Akbari Gate Police registered the complaint and referred it to the investigation wing for further proceedings. Officers stated that strict action would be taken against those who take the law into their own hands or disrupt security arrangements.
