BEIJING, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st Aug, 2026) China’s dairy import market, valued at $12.78 billion in 2025, imported approximately 2.66 million tonnes of dairy products. This presents a potential opportunity for Pakistani dairy exporters as agricultural cooperation between Pakistan and China expands.
According to the Dairy Association of China, China’s dairy import value rose by 13.7 percent year-on-year in 2025. Major imported products include milk powder, whey, cheese, and cream, driven by growing domestic demand.
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), along with the Consulate General of Pakistan in Guangzhou, hosted a webinar on August 18 to explore business opportunities for Pakistani exporters in the Chinese dairy market.
During the webinar:
- Muhammad Imran, Trade and Investment Counsellor, provided insights on China’s dairy market, consumer trends, import/distribution channels, regulatory requirements, and potential business prospects.
- Shehzad Amin, CEO of Pakistan Dairy Association, highlighted Pakistan’s robust dairy production capacity, including UHT milk, milk powder, cream, butter, ghee, and other value-added products, while emphasizing the sector’s adherence to international quality and Halal standards. He also mentioned that several Pakistani dairy establishments have been approved by China’s General Administration of Customs for exports.
Dairy trade between Pakistan and China has seen recent milestones:
- In April 2025, Pakistan exported camel milk powder to China for the first time.
- Royal JW Foods, a China-Pakistan joint venture, exported its inaugural shipment of concentrated buffalo milk to China in 2025, with plans to introduce yogurt, cheese, and butter.
Around 20 Pakistani and Chinese companies participated in the webinar, fostering discussions on expanding dairy trade and building business partnerships.
