Four riders from the UAE showed remarkable determination at the FEI Jumping World Championships in Aachen, Germany, on Thursday. Each rider contributed a consistent performance with just one fence down, showcasing their skills on the challenging course designed by Frank Rothenberger.
Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi, the Longines FEI Rising Star of 2024 and 23-year-old, started things off riding Enjoy de la Mure. Following a clear round in Wednesday’s Speed Competition, Omar and his horse secured a strong position heading into Thursday. Despite an early rail resulting in four faults, they quickly recovered to complete the course with precision.
"He was feeling fantastic," Omar expressed, "and I’m thrilled with how he jumped. It was unfortunate about that rail, but having my family here gives me the motivation to perform at my best and make them proud."
Sheikha Latifah bint Ahmed bin Juma Al Maktoum, an experienced Emirati rider who competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, rode Cornet XL. Her performance was marked by a single mistake, ensuring a clean round with her ten-year-old horse.
"I’m incredibly happy with my round today," Sheikha Latifah commented. "Cornet XL jumped his heart out for me, but I got a little loose in the saddle at one point. I should have taken an extra stride, but I’m grateful to be here and ride such a wonderful horse."
Humaid Abdulla Khalifa Al Muhairi, making his debut at an FEI Jumping World Championship, partnered Foncetti vd Heffinck. He delivered a strong performance, lowering just one fence for another four-fault score.
"I’m happy to be here in Aachen for the first time," Humaid said. "Thank you to everyone who supported me on this journey. I’m excited to see what the future holds."
Completing the UAE quartet was Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi riding Flonflon. After an early fall, Salim successfully navigated the rest of the course without further faults.
The four-day competition continues, promising more thrilling moments for the UAE riders as they strive for excellence at the world championships.
