World number one Jannik Sinner and Jack Draper, both dealing with knee injuries, have withdrawn from the upcoming US Open.
The 25-year-old Sinner, who won Wimbledon in July, stated: "Even though I have been working hard… we have now had to make the difficult decision that I will not be able to compete at the US Open this year."
Draper, runner-up to Sinner at the 2024 US Open and ranked inside the world’s top five when he suffered a long-term arm injury, has also withdrawn due to an ongoing issue.
Sinner’s withdrawal means the highly anticipated rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz, who is competing after a four-month absence due to a wrist injury, will be put on hold for another Grand Slam.
