CM Attends Concluding Ceremony Of ‘Salaam Karachi Festival’, Pays Tribute To Martyrs
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday paid tribute to the armed forces and martyrs of Pakistan, stating their sacrifices had established the foundation for the country's peace, stability, and progress. He reinforced his government's commitment to making Karachi cleaner, greener, safer, and more inclusive during his address at the closing ceremony of the 15-day Salaam Karachi Festival at Frere Hall.
The chief minister expressed that the brave individuals who sacrificed their lives defending the nation remain national heroes and an inspiration for future generations. He acknowledged the dedication and professionalism of the armed forces and law enforcement, ensuring the protection of Pakistan's freedom and sovereignty. Similarly, he honored the sacrifices made by the families of martyrs, emphasizing that their loss is immeasurable.
The ceremony, a part of Defence Day observances, concluded a citywide festival engaging Karachi's diverse communities through cultural, literary, sporting, and recreational activities. The event celebrated the city's heritage, creativity, and community spirit while providing platforms for participation by families, youth, artists, and civil society organizations.
Mr. Shah highlighted the enthusiastic public involvement in the festival, demonstrating the strong bond between Karachi and its citizens. He emphasized that the city belongs to everyone, and collective efforts are essential for its progress and prosperity.
The chief minister congratulated the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, and the organizing team on successfully promoting a positive image of the metropolis through Salaam Karachi. He noted that the festival showcased Karachi's diversity, resilience, and creative potential.
Mr. Shah reiterated the Sindh government's commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and public services while expanding parks, sports facilities, cultural institutions, and recreational spaces. He expressed the desire for development to reach every corner of the metropolis, including Lyari, Malir, Korangi, Clifton, Orangi, and Gulshan-e-Hadeed, ensuring citizens across Karachi benefit from its growth and opportunities.
He concluded by hoping that the festival would continue to flourish and become a permanent feature in Karachi's cultural calendar. The ceremony began with recitations from the Holy Quran and the national anthem.
