Commissioner Directs Expedited Completion of Chahan Dam Project
Rawalpindi, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st Aug, 2026) Commissioner Rawalpindi, Salman Ghani, paid a detailed visit to the Chahan Dam Project to review the ongoing construction and development work. He was given a comprehensive briefing on the project’s progress, construction activities, water storage capacity, and its future role in ensuring a sustainable water supply for Rawalpindi.
He directed the concerned departments to utilize all available resources to ensure the project’s completion at the earliest possible time.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Salman Ghani stated that the Chahan Dam Project would be a valuable asset for Rawalpindi. He explained that the project would enhance water supply, storage, and rainwater conservation during the monsoon season.
The Commissioner noted that the project is a gift from Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to address the city’s long-term water needs. He emphasized the Punjab Government’s commitment to completing public welfare projects within stipulated timelines and maintaining quality standards.
He directed officers to accelerate work, strengthen coordination, and ensure construction quality with no compromises. Any obstacles or delays should be reported to higher authorities for timely solutions.
The Commissioner stressed the importance of developing water reservoirs and conserving water resources for future demands. He concluded that the Chahan Dam Project’s completion will strengthen Rawalpindi’s water system and offer opportunities for effective monsoon rainwater utilization.
