Deputy Commissioner Orders Swift Action Against Encroachments On Waterways In Khanpur
HARIPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st Aug, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Haripur Islahuddin has directed the concerned departments to immediately identify and remove illegal encroachments from drains and waterways in Khanpur to restore natural water channels and protect residents from flooding and drainage-related hazards.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting in Khanpur on the removal of encroachments from waterways and drains and restoration of natural watercourses.
The meeting was attended by:
- Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief and Human Rights)
- Assistant Commissioner Khanpur
- TMO Khanpur
- Executive Engineer Khanpur Dam
- Executive Engineer Irrigation
- Tehsildar Khanpur
- Officials of other relevant departments.
The meeting reviewed:
- Encroachments on drains and waterways
- Obstructions to the natural flow of water
- Potential risks during the monsoon season
Officials briefed the meeting on the current situation, surveys, and measures being taken to address the issue.
The deputy commissioner directed the relevant departments to take action against illegal encroachments in accordance with the law and without discrimination. He also called for close coordination among all departments, acceleration of the ongoing anti-encroachment operation, and completion of the process within the stipulated timeframe.
He stated that restoration of natural waterways was essential to safeguard public life and property and minimize the risks of flooding and drainage problems.
