Dr Khalid Manzoor Elected First President Of PCFA Lahore
LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 20, 2026) The Pakistan-China Friendship Association (PCFA) Lahore has been formally established to strengthen people-to-people contacts and promote academic, cultural, social, and economic ties between Pakistan and China. Professor Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt was unanimously elected as its first president.
The association was launched at the first meeting of its founding members held at a local university in Lahore on August 20. The members unanimously approved its by-laws, objectives, and Executive Committee.
Ms Khadija Amer and Dr Kiran Khurshid were elected as Vice Presidents, while Mr Asad Gondal became the Secretary General and Mr Hamza Sufi Joint Secretary. Mr Rizwan Sherwani, Mr Naveed Saeed, and Dr Farzana Riaz were selected as members of the Executive Committee.
Dr Khalid Manzoor expressed gratitude to the founding members for their trust and stated that the association would soon initiate a membership drive to bring Pakistani and Chinese residents of Lahore together. He emphasized the PCFA’s commitment to maintaining close coordination with the Consulate General of China in Lahore and promoting interactions between the people of both nations. The association aims to focus on overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers, fostering exchanges in education, culture, business, and social activities.
Dr Butt also announced plans to establish an Alumni Chapter for Pakistanis who studied at Chinese educational institutions, providing a platform for them to remain connected and contribute to strengthening Pakistan-China relations.
The association intends to commemorate significant national and cultural events of both countries and organize seminars, conferences, exhibitions, cultural festivals, language programs, and exchange visits. It will also seek cooperation among educational institutions, think tanks, businesses, and civil society organizations.
Former Walled City of Lahore Authority Director General Kamran Lashari congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and expressed confidence in Dr Butt’s leadership. Former Vice Chancellor of Government College University Lahore, Dr Hassan A. Shah, also extended his best wishes to the association.
The establishment of the PCFA is anticipated to offer a new avenue for sustained people-to-people engagement and closer academic, cultural, social, and economic ties between Pakistan and China.
