Federal Government Reserves 2% Employment Quota For Persons With Disabilities: Tariq Fazal

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry stated today that the federal government has dedicated a 2% employment quota specifically for individuals with disabilities.
In response to a written query in the Senate, the minister explained that the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2020, which came into effect on September 23, 2020, mandates this quota be maintained across the overall sanctioned strength of an organization, rather than against each Basic Pay Scale (BPS).
He further informed that following directives from the Prime Minister, the Establishment Division issued uniform instructions to all ministries and divisions on June 18, 2021. A subsequent letter dated July 21, 2026 was sent to all ministries and divisions requesting them to provide updated information regarding vacant positions under the prescribed 2% employment quota for individuals with disabilities.
