Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:

Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has successfully thwarted an attempt to supply a dead cow to a butcher shop and conducted raids on a unit allegedly producing adulterated tea leaves in Peshawar. These actions were initiated based on the directives of Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Food, Dr. Muhammad Israr Khan, as part of a campaign against substandard, adulterated, and unsafe food products.

According to a spokesperson for the authority, a food safety team, acting upon a tip-off, stopped a rickshaw in Hayatabad with the assistance of police. They discovered a dead cow inside the vehicle, which was reportedly being transported to a butcher shop located in Hayatabad Super Market. The dead animal and rickshaw were seized, and the driver was arrested and handed over to the authorities. The concerned butcher shop was sealed, and legal action was taken under the Food Safety Act.

In a separate operation, another food safety team led by Deputy Director Operations Peshawar Division, Zeeshan Mehsud, raided a unit in Peshawar suspected of producing adulterated tea leaves. The team found individuals preparing substandard and adulterated tea leaves and made arrests at the scene. Approximately 900 kilograms of adulterated tea leaves, along with raw materials and machinery, were seized during the operation. The arrested suspects were turned over to the police for further legal proceedings.

Dr. Israr Khan commended the food safety teams on their efforts and stated that those involved in producing and selling adulterated and substandard food will face severe legal consequences. He directed the teams to intensify their campaign against food adulteration and ensure strict enforcement of food safety laws across the province.
