For God’s Sake, Leave The People Alone: Nawaz Sharif’s Former Close Aide Urges Rulers

People can no longer afford expensive electricity, gas bills, petrol and diesel, education, healthcare, court justice and various so-called ‘jagge taxes,’ says Asif Kirmani in an X post.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Sep, 2026) Former senator Dr Syed Asif Kirmani, a disgruntled former close aide of PML-N leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, has strongly condemned the day-by-day rise in inflation, hefty gas and electricity bills and various unnecessary taxes in the country, urging those in power to show mercy to the people and resign from their positions.
In an extremely harsh and emotional statement on the social media platform X, Dr Syed Asif Kirmani depicted the plight and financial hardships of ordinary citizens, saying the tsunami of inflation had made life twice as difficult for the middle and poor classes.
Speaking about the rising prices of daily-use items and basic facilities, he said people could no longer bear severe inflation, expensive electricity, heavy gas bills and continuously rising petrol and diesel prices. The situation, he said, had reached the point where ordinary citizens were being deprived even of basic necessities of life.

The former senator also strongly criticised rising costs in education, healthcare and the judicial system, as well as the additional taxes imposed on the public. He said quality education and medical treatment had moved beyond the reach of ordinary people, while obtaining justice through the courts had also become prohibitively expensive for the poor.
He described the financial burdens collected under various names as “jagge taxes,” saying the disproportionate taxes imposed by the government had broken the economic back of citizens.
Dr Syed Asif Kirmani urged those in authority: "For God’s sake, leave the people alone!" because the public had absolutely no capacity left to bear any further economic burden or tax.
