FTO Conducts Introductory Meeting with Honorary Advisors for Overseas Pakistanis

Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Zafar Hijazi held a virtual introductory meeting with Honorary Advisors for Overseas Pakistanis, focusing on strengthening coordination and improving mechanisms for addressing tax-related grievances of Pakistanis living abroad.
The meeting was moderated by Almas Jovindah, Head of the Overseas Pakistanis Grievances Redressal Cell, who welcomed the Honorary Advisors and highlighted their role in connecting overseas Pakistani communities with the FTO Secretariat for the effective resolution of their complaints.
Zafar Hijazi reaffirmed the FTO’s commitment to providing overseas Pakistanis with an accessible and efficient platform for resolving tax-related grievances. He appreciated the contribution of Honorary Advisors in facilitating Pakistani citizens abroad and raising awareness about the services and complaint-redressal mechanisms available through the FTO.
Honorary Advisors representing different countries shared their experiences and offered suggestions for improving coordination and ensuring the timely resolution of complaints.
- Ahmed Sheraz, Honorary Advisor for Poland, appreciated the FTO’s efforts to address the concerns of overseas Pakistanis and acknowledged various initiatives undertaken to facilitate the Pakistani diaspora.
- Sardar Muhammad Ilyas Khan, Honorary Advisor for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, said he represented a large Pakistani labour community in the kingdom and stressed the importance of addressing the concerns of overseas workers. He assured the FTO Secretariat of his cooperation in improving communication between the Pakistani community and the ombudsman’s office.
Participants were also briefed on the working procedures of the Overseas Pakistanis Grievances Redressal Cell and the channels available for lodging and pursuing complaints. The briefing was aimed at enabling Honorary Advisors to better guide overseas Pakistanis seeking assistance with tax-related issues.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Hijazi announced a dedicated training session for the Honorary Advisors on Saturday. The session will cover the FTO’s working procedures, grievance-redressal mechanism and ways in which the advisors can provide more effective assistance to overseas Pakistanis.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to further strengthen cooperation between the FTO Secretariat and Honorary Advisors and facilitate the prompt redressal of genuine grievances of Pakistanis residing abroad.
