LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th Aug, 2026) SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry former President Iftikhar Ali Malik has welcomed the opening of Google’s office in Pakistan, stating it will significantly contribute to transforming the country into a major information technology (IT) export hub.

In a released statement, he described the establishment of Google’s office as a landmark development for Pakistan’s technology sector, aiding the nation in achieving its ambitious target of increasing IT exports to $30 billion.

Malik noted that Google’s entry coincides with Pakistan’s rapid digital transformation, particularly in governance and public service delivery. He believed this presence would offer new prospects for Pakistani IT professionals, software developers, entrepreneurs, and technology startups, facilitating access to advanced digital tools, global expertise, and international markets.

He emphasized the requirement for increased investment in digital infrastructure, broadband connectivity, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and other emerging technologies to fully leverage Pakistan’s substantial IT potential.

Expressing optimism about the future, Malik asserted that Google’s contribution would reinforce Pakistan’s standing in the global technology landscape and expedite the country’s digital and economic growth.
