Heavy Rain Forecast Raises Flood Risk In Northeastern Balochistan

UrduPoint (August 22, 2026) - The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) Quetta has issued a weather forecast warning of heavy rainfall over the next 24–48 hours, which may lead to flash flooding in local streams, nullahs, and hill torrents across northeastern districts of Balochistan.

According to the forecast, areas such as Ziarat, Sherani, Zhob, Harnai, Musakhail, Barkhan, Loralai, Duki, Killa Saifullah, Kohlu, and Dera Bugti are expected to be affected. The advisory warns that windstorms, lightning, and heavy rains could cause damage to weak structures like solar panels, billboards, and electric poles.

Meanwhile, mainly hot weather is anticipated in most districts of the province, with extremely hot conditions in Nokkundi (46°C), Dalbandin (45.5°C), Washuk, Kharan, Noshki, Panjgur, Kech, Awaran, parts of Khuzdar, Sibi, and Dera Bugti. The minimum temperature recorded was 30.5°C in Ormara.

The forecast indicates partly cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorms at isolated places in Zhob, Sherani, Musakhail, Dera Bugti, Barkhan, Ziarat, Kohlu, Khuzdar, and adjoining areas. Strong gusty winds are likely throughout the province.

For the following 48–72 hours, similar conditions are expected, with hot weather in southern and western districts and rain-wind/thunderstorms in northeastern and central regions, including Surab, Mastung, outskirts of Quetta, and surrounding areas.
